Timelines and Deadlines:
- Choose and read one book per month

- Choose one of the books you read throughout the quarter, and complete a project on that book
- Present your book project to the class
- Students should always have their DRP book with them, so they can read during any extra time in class, while waiting for others to complete a task, and at home
Assignments (choose a different one for each marking period):
Rewrite the Ending
For this assignment you will be acting as the author, and rewriting the ending of the story. The new ending should be reasonable, and should be based on your knowledge of the characters, setting, and the problem of the story. Your rewrite will need to include a summary of the events that led up to the original ending of the book. Be creative in your rewrite. Remember it's the details and descriptions that allow the reader to "see the picture" you are painting with your story!
Character Sketch
For this assignment you will write about the qualities of one of the characters in the book you have read. First choose one of the main characters in the story. Discuss the personality (how they behave), and physical (how they look) characteristics of the character. Make sure to include an example from the book to support each of the qualities you are discussing. Finally, tell me what you think the characters will do next. What new adventure would this character get into?
Timeline
For this assignment you must create a timeline of at least 10 major events in the story. These should be important events that had an effect on the plot or the characters. Your timeline may be done on a computer, or you may create a poster. Be original!!! You must include a summary of the book on the back of your timeline.
Book Cube
For this assignment you will create a book cube that explains 6 different elements of your story. The sides of the cube should be:
-main characters
-setting
-plot
-problem and solution
-authors message
-favorite scene in the story
Each side should be illustrated with a picture and a few words if needed. You will need to write an explanation for each side on a separate sheet of paper. I will provide you with the paper for the sides of the cube.
